Onsite Moves

Onsite house moves, involve moving a house or building from one location to another on the same property or within the same general area. This process is often undertaken for various reasons, such as subdivision, creating space for new construction, or repositioning a building on a property.

Subdivision: When subdividing land, it may be necessary to move an existing house to create space for new lots or to comply with zoning regulations.

Repositioning: Sometimes, a house may be moved to a different part of the same property to optimize space, improve views, or accommodate new construction.

Adding a Relocatable Home: Onsite moves can also involve adding a pre-loved or new relocatable home to a property, potentially for rental income or additional living space.

Preparation for Demolition or New Construction: In some cases, a house may be moved temporarily to allow for demolition of existing structures or to make way for new construction.

Process of Onsite House Moves:

1. Planning and Permits: The process begins with planning the move, including engaging a draftsperson, surveyor, geotech and any necessary permits and consents from the local council.

2. Site Preparation: The site where the house will be moved to is prepared, and may include, demolition, excavation, site preparation, vegetation and fence removal and pegging out work.

3. House Preparation: The house is prepared for the move, which may involve disconnecting utilities, bracing the structure, removal, of decks, steps and conservatories and potentially splitting the house into sections if necessary.

4. Lifting and Transportation: Specialized equipment, such as hydraulic jacks and trailers, are used to lift the house and move it to its new location.

5. Placement and Re-piling: The house is carefully placed into position, then the pile and anchor holes are dug ready for the piles and concrete. Then concrete is then poured.

6. Utility Connections: Once the house is in its new location, utilities are reconnected, and the site is cleaned up.

7. Cost: The cost of an onsite house move can vary depending on the size and complexity of the house, the distance of the move, and the extent of site preparation required.
