House Relocation Tauranga and the Bay of Plenty
Moving a house into Tauranga, out of it, or across the Bay of Plenty is a job with two halves:
The road, and the ground it lands on. We handle both. Waikato Building Relocators runs house relocation in Tauranga and the wider Bay from our Waikato base, with the permits, pilots, piles and consent work all under one roof, and we handle every home as if it were our own.
Relocating a house over the Kaimais and around the Bay
A relocated house is an over-dimensional load, so a Bay of Plenty move needs NZTA permits and detailed route planning: which bridges to cross, where power lines and overhead train lines must be isolated, and where traffic signals are lowered. Moves run at night because of the size, with the route managed and traffic controlled the whole way. Tauranga, Te Puke, Katikati, Ōmokoroa and the Papamoa subdivisions are all on routes we have planned before, and a relocation from the Waikato over SH29 is a regular run.
Three new homes landed in Rotorua
Not every relocation is a second-hand house. We delivered three newly constructed homes to Rotorua, set each down on piles, then finished them and made them ready for their families to move in. That is the full service: the move, the piling at the new site, and the finishing, so the family gets keys, not a shell on blocks.
Relocatable homes for sale in the Bay
If you have a section in Tauranga or the Bay and want a home on it quickly, we sell relocatable homes from stock. Our sourcing runs from the Waikato through to Auckland suburbs such as Forrest Hill, Mount Roskill, Mount Eden and Epsom, several of them fully renovated and ready for a new postcode. Compact double-glazed, heat-pumped minor dwellings around 43sqm suit a second dwelling or a rental on an existing section. Have a look at the current stock and tell us where it is going.
Rural and lifestyle sections
A large share of our Bay of Plenty work lands on rural sections and lifestyle blocks, often down long gravel driveways and narrow country roads. The crew manages tight rural access every week. The other thing rural buyers ask about is timing: a building consent is required before the home is placed, allow around three months for council, so plan three to four months ahead.
What to check before relocating a house in Tauranga
Is the home structurally sound for the move? We assess before we quote rather than over-promise.
What does the route look like: bridges, power lines, rail crossings?
What foundations will the home need on the new site, and is repiling part of the job?
Has the consent application started? Three months of council time is normal.
What do you need to do before the move: disconnect utilities, remove personal items, secure anything loose. We give you a checklist.
Tell us where the house is and where it is going.
We will assess the job and quote the whole relocation, Bay of Plenty or anywhere in the North Island. Your best move.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you relocate houses into Tauranga from the Waikato?
Yes, and out again. The Waikato to Tauranga run over SH29 is one of our regular routes. Longer moves are fine too; we have relocated a house from Hamilton to Carterton.
Can you relocate a brick house?
Sometimes. Brick veneer homes can often be moved with the right preparation; full masonry is harder. We assess the structure first and give you a straight answer. Our guide on relocating brick houses covers the detail.
How long does a Bay of Plenty house relocation take?
The move itself is a night or two. The lead time is mostly council: allow around three months for consent on top of our work queue. Developers on demolition deadlines should call us as early as possible, as Queenwood Property did, so the home is saved and the development stays on schedule.
Do you sell relocatable homes in Tauranga?
Yes. We keep stock of relocatable homes and minor dwellings and deliver them to sections across the Bay of Plenty. See the current relocatable homes for sale.
What does it cost to relocate a house to Tauranga?
Cost depends on the size of the house, the distance, access at both ends and the extra services needed such as repiling and consent. We give a personalised quote after assessing the specific situation, never a flat per-bedroom figure. Our relocation cost guide explains what moves the price.
